Presidents Report

G'Day and welcome to the August presidents report

The Annual General Meeting was held in July, from all reports this was a very good social night. The only negative feedback was the catering – it was ok, I think we are all used to pilling up our plates. Some bread & butter would have made a big difference, this was an oversight on our behalf (committees). Personally I like to pile up my plate, and I keep getting reminded that it shows but after having a meal recently at the Blue Bell, with the meal and service that we received, I wasn't complaining at all! Like I said this was a very good social night enjoyed by all, even if our guest speaker couldn't make it due to atmospheric conditions at Sydney Airport causing all flights to be delayed significantly.

At this point I would like to thank Russell McKenzie, Rob Robson and Mick Goossens for their time on committee. I would also like to welcome back Clare Bennett, Rod Hall and welcome Shane Williams onto committee. The new committee has been formed and we are two short, if you don't wasn't to commit to a committee position you may be able to help out just doing some jobs for the club.

Enough social matters, on to the competition side. The first round of the CVAC series at Geelong was postponed due to much rain. Sunday 8th August saw Motorkhana Round 4 ably ran by Ben McKee and Mick Goossens. On Sunday 15th Autocross Round 2 was directed by Rod Hall who put his hand up to ensure that this re-scheduled event would go ahead. Congratulations to all various winners and thanks to all directors and officials especially Motorkhana timers Wayne Sleep, Keith Scott and non-member Ben Morse as conditions were not ideal. The biggest Thank-you must go out to Paul Duncalf and Dave Stewart for standing out in the conditions at points 1 & 2 during the autocross. This would have been the wettest autocross I think the club has ever ran! So thanks fellas and also Dave for using that big F-250 to put out and pick up all the gear, the more I see and hear of this "Effie" the more impressed I am.

Events that are coming up are CVAC Round 2 at Bendigo on Sat 4th September and Stapo's Khanacross on Sunday 12th at Sulky on the edge of the bush. Before these take place, the club under the guidance of Clare & Samara Bennett and their team will run one of our major events, the Winter Classic Trial & Tour. This follows the usual format of being on the weekend of the August club night. Friday night at the showgrounds, touring and tests on Saturday & Sunday. So if your not competing you may be able to help otherwise come and have a look.

Just remember NO club night this month due to the Winter Classic. Also a reminder that memberships ran out on the 30th June so please renew or this will be the final bulletin you receive.

Enough from me, I seem to have waffled on a bit, sorry.

See you at the club.
